From 26th July to 3rd
September, the Youth Club has been open on average for 21hrs a
week for young people to meet up with friends, chill out and have
fun. We’ve had our usual evening openings plus daytime opening
which included workshops of Djembie Drumming, Music Production and
T Shirt design – all of which were a good laugh and young people
produced some excellent stuff. Other less formal
activities included quizzes, PS2 challenges, creative fun in the
art room, some ball court action with Josh, and Silly-Olympics
games, with many young people taking part, winning and gaining new
skills.
Trips were good fun too with young people
paintballing, quad biking, visiting London for the Dirty Dancing
show, spending a day at Thorpe Park and trying Watersports at Dover
– some activities proved drier and more enjoyable than others!
Generally, we’ve had a great summer and I
would like to thanks the local community for their support, the
staff here for making it all happen, the Trustees and Parish
Council for supporting us financilly, but most of all, A Big Thank
You to the Young People who it’s been a pleasure to spend time with
over the last 6 weeks – you know who you are!
We revert back to our usual term time opening
hours now with new age group categories in place,
which is designed to allow young people to enjoy use of the centre
among an appropriate peer group. Activities will include
Football, PS2, Table Tennis, Table Tennis Wii, Computers, Art &
Craft Room, Games, Informal Education, Quizzes, Trips & Holiday
Programmes.
