Aylesham Development Application - DOV/16/00180 – housing next to the school off Dorman Ave North, which involves
Loss of informal (not registered as right of way) pedestrian access/footpath which runs along the school boundary between Dorman Avenue North and a car parking area at Newman Road and Vale View Road - currently blocked off by the Developers, prior to starting construction.
The Planning Officer has provided the following information.
· “This route could be retained within the development; however, I do not consider that such a route would be appropriate in planning terms, as it would be unmade (bare earth), narrow, and would leave the dwellings which back onto it vulnerable to crime.
· In contrast, the submitted plans include a public route through the site which, whilst not quite as direct as the existing path, would provide a safer route between the two points, would be paved (improving accessibility for push chairs, wheelchairs etc.), and would benefit from natural surveillance from the dwellings and street lighting.
· I do not, therefore, consider that I could sustain an objection (about loss of the current informal pedestrian access/footpath along the school boundary) to the plans on this basis.”
